Quilts on Plum Lane

Welcome to the Friendliest Quilt Store in Florida!

Dear Quilters,

I finished one top, made four for the shop, a donation quilt and am working on a Christmas quilt.  I am also working on the charm pinwheel pattern—whew!

Summer has brought an enjoyable visit from Carrie Nelson (Miss Rosie Quilt Company).  What a pleasant visit!  Three quilts and a tremendous amount of inspiration in three days ( two more quilts added to my to finish pile!)

I went to Spring Market!  Go Green!  Bamboo batting, make your own totes—come see our new print canvas and back pack patterns.

Also, yummy fabrics!  “Jelly rolls”—Hoffman has come up with “Bali Pops”—batik 2 ½” strips!  Imagine 40 strips of batiks in one pack!!  Pretty enameled pins, wool pincushions!  I found an interesting Christmas book by Primitive Gatherings.  The day after I came home a friend met me at the shop and we put kits together.  Both went home with yet another project!!

What’s up for fall?  “Shop Hop” in October—lots of fun and beautiful fabrics in our Shop Hop Fabrics!

Check out the new classes.  I am so fortunate to have such a talented staff!  Carol has come up with new classes—“Garden Delight” and “Bento Box.”  Rhonda has added Carrie Nelson’s “Cheap Trick” and “Imagine” along with her Beginning Machine Piecing and McKenna Ryan.  Frances will be back with her Brazilian Embroidery and BE Friends.  Girl Gang returns with Jan Patek’s new Girl Gang pattern.  We will again be meeting the 2nd Saturday of the month. (Check it out!)  The Plumquat Circle of the Feather Princesses will meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Yes, we have been busy planning activities for you.  Check all the newsletter for other new and fun activities!

May your quilting stitches be as small as your creativity is large!

Carol’s Corner

Hi All:

My sewing room is finally back in order after months of being boxed up in the dining room.  It wasn’t supposed to be a big deal—fresh paint and a new floor, something most people could accomplish in a couple weekends.  Well, my husband is not most people.  I love him dearly and wouldn’t trade him, but. . .anyway, we’re almost done, except for a new set of shelves.  The wood is here, the plans are drawn, a few more boxes await.

I’ve seen those shows on the TV where they organize people by completely emptying a room then put back just what they need.  It really works!  I’ve been able to clear out stuff I haven’t looked at in years.  Books, patterns, any of you remember the original rotary rulers?  The clear Plexiglas strips, no markings, cut in 1” to 3 ½” wide pieces?  I still had 2 sets, but no more!  Projects are off the floor and in tubs and baskets stand ready at a moments notice.  I’m so organized I can’t find a thing!

Needless to say, being so disrupted, my sewing has been at a minimum lately.  I appliqué in the evenings—that helps to alleviate some of the frustration but there are times when nothing satisfies more than running two pieces of fabric through a sewing machine.  Dinner in  the crock pot, a mindless movie on the TV, the cat asleep NOT in the middle of my stuff, no husband, no kids, you know what I mean—sewing bliss!  Put it on your calendar—you all deserve a “Bliss Day” once in a while!
                                                                        Still happily stitching
(soon I hope!),

Carol
